Long Illness Fatal to Mrs. Wm Winter
Died, yesterday morning, Thursday, Sept. 24, 1942, Esther Jane Gadd Winter, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Jay L. Belles, at 609 East Flint street, Lake Orion, following an illness of six months.
Mrs. Winter who has been a resident of this place for more than 42 years, was the widow of the late William Winter, who died Dec. 7, 1933, and a sister-in-law of the late John Winter, who figured so prominently in the building up of Lake Orion as a resort. She was the daughter of Noah and Maria Gadd, and was born July 26, 1862, on her parents' farm at Thamesville, Ont., Canada, where she spent her early education. She was married to William Winter, of Thamesville, Ontario, on Nov. 26, 1885. Mrs Winter was a faithful member of the Orion Methodist Church, the Ladies Aid, and the Lake Orion Chapter of the Eastern Star.
Surviving are two children, Mrs. J. L. Belles , of Lake Orion; Ernest winter , of Detroit, and three grandchildren, and five great grandchildren; also two sisters and one brother, Mrs. Emma Street, Chatham, Ont.,Mrs. Charles Francis, Elkhart, Ind., and Harry Gadd, of Detroit. The funeral services will be held tomorrow afternoon at 2 o'clock, Saturday, sept. 26, from Allen's Funeral Home, with the Rev. F. R. Walker, Pastor of the Lake Orion M. E. Church, of which Mrs. Winter was a member, offciating. Interment will take place in Evergreen Cemetery.
